Elixir Sancti Vigili – Amaro di Erbe e Radici

What makes our herbal and root bitter special? Quality above all, but also tradition. The Elixir Sancti Vigilii is in fact produced following a historical recipe of the Dolzan family, made a testament during the First World War so as not to lose its tradition. The unique properties of each of the herbs that compose it were studied by the botanist and doctor of the bishop prince during the Council of Trent (from 1545 to 1563), Pietro Andrea Mattioli; the original combination of herbs has been passed down for centuries and is now kept in our museum. Given the great historical value of this bitter – elixir, the Dean Monsignor of the Cathedral of Trento commissioned us to reproduce this bitter of herbs and roots and baptize it with the name of Elixir Sancti Vigilii, in honor of the most famous and glorious prince bishop of the city of Trento and patron of Trentino.

The bitter of herbs and roots of Villa de Varda is a mixture of juniper berries, cloves, brown cherries, gentian and rhubarb roots, flowering absinthe, lemon balm leaves, bitter orange peel, quassia and much more. An intense aroma and a seductive flavor characterize Elixir Sancti Vigilii, which can be used with ice, or as a base for cocktails. The bitter of herbs and roots is also an excellent digestive, to finish a classy dinner with pleasure.

AMARO SANCTI VIGILI

It is obtained from an ancient and exclusive recipe of a Trentino family, expert in the art of distillation and botany. Its precious and innumerable properties and digestive virtues are the result of a slow and wise process of infusion of juniper berries, cloves, brown chiretta, gentian and rhubarb roots, flowering absinthe, lemon balm leaves, bitter orange peel , quassia and many others. The skilful dosage of the blends gives this Elixir an extraordinary intense aroma and a singular and seductive flavor.
